If you’re in crisis
If you’re in crisis, help is available right now.
You don’t have to wait for an appointment, and you don’t have to be sure it’s an emergency. These services are free, confidential and open all day, every day.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

If you’re worried about someone
You can call for them.
- Ask directly whether they’re thinking about suicide. Asking doesn’t put the idea in their head.
- Stay with them, and remove anything they could use to hurt themselves, if it’s safe to.
- Call or text 988 together, or call 911 if they’re in immediate danger.
Our patients
Between visits, call 988 first.
If you’re one of our patients and you feel unsafe, call or text 988 or go to the emergency room first. Then let us know at (908) 450-7002, so your care team can follow up with you.
Our phone line and online forms aren’t monitored around the clock. Please don’t use them for emergencies.
About Spravato and suicidal thoughts
Not a substitute for emergency care.
Spravato is approved, with an oral antidepressant, for adults with depression who have suicidal thoughts or actions. It hasn’t been shown to prevent suicide, and it never replaces urgent help when you need it.
